Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky

Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky is one of five members of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, representing the Third District. Comprising much of the City of Los Angeles, Yaroslavsky represents Los Angeles County from the Wilshire corridor and Beverly Hills inland to Malibu and Calabasas by the shores. Previously, Yaroslavsky was elected to the Los Angeles City Council on six occasions, first in 1975 and subsequently until 1993. He was then elected to the Board of Supervisors in 1994, a position to which he has been re-elected to twice, most recently in 2002. He also serves on many local and state advisory boards, included that of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Among his major accomplishments as Supervisor, Yaroslavsky spearheaded successful passage of ‘Measure B’, a parcel-tax increase used to fund trauma care, emergency services and bioterrorism preparedness efforts in Los Angeles County. In addition, as President of the Los Angeles County Prop. 10 “Children and Families First” Commission, Yaroslavsky spearheaded allocation of $100 million in state tobacco-tax funding to fund health care coverage for children under the age of 5 in Los Angeles County. Supervisor Yaroslavsky is a lifelong resident of the district he represents, and is a graduate of UCLA (Master's, History, 1972; Bachelor's, History and Economics, 1971). He is married with two children.
