About
I grew up in South San Francisco, California and attended the College of San Mateo before transferring to the University of California at Davis, where I majored in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. After college I worked at SFGH as health worker for the Refugee Medical clinic doing health screenings and then as a health coach for patients with chronic diseases as a part of the UCSF Center for Excellence in Primary Care. Before applying to medical school I attended the UC Davis School of Medicine post-baccalaureate program. I am a member of UCLA PRIME through Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science and David Geffen School of medicine. My desire for medicine stems from establishing long lasting patient relationships while empowering patients from underserved communities with the skills, confidence, and knowledge to play an active role in improving their health care outcomes. I am also a strong believer in community advocacy of underserved communities through collaboration with others who share the same goals and aspirations. I am very grateful to all my mentors who have supported me along the way and hope to continue giving back to others who will come after me. In my future as a family and community physician, I hope to become a director of health care quality in a community clinic consortium and improve the care of underserved populations.
