About
David was born in Mexicali, Mexico and migrated to El Centro with his parents at age 11. From an early age David was inspired and motivated by science and education. David graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in mathematics in 2006. He received a fellowship from the NIH to complete a PhD program in Computational Science at Claremont Graduate University and San Diego State University from which he graduated in 2011. During the last six years, through his mentor, Paul Paolini, David was involved with the “Bridges to the Future” and other programs at SDSU that aimed to increase the number of minority students in the sciences, for which he served as a lecturer and laboratory instructor. Aside from his interest in the use of computational techniques and the application of mathematical models in medicine, David is a strong believer in health through education and is committed to using education and awareness to empower communities to improve their health. In his spare time David enjoys running, playing and watching soccer, and exploring new foods with his wife.
