About
Daniel grew up in South Gate and Downey, but always went to school in Downey. Upon graduating from high school he enrolled at Cerritos College where he spent a number of years figuring out what he wanted to do. He had always been interested in health sciences, initially psychology. In 2007 he became serious about pursuing medicine as a career after giving it much thought. His gratifying experiences volunteering in the community at health fairs were a big part of his decision. He eventually became a mentor and tutor for Project HOPE (Health Opportunities and Pipeline to Education) at Cerritos College. In 2010 he transferred to UC Irvine as a Biological Sciences major. At UCI he was the Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine (CCM) Representative and he was involved with the UCI Outreach Free Clinic and Project GREEN (Getting Residents Engaged in Exercise and Nutrition) in Santa Ana, while also being mentored by LMSA. In 2013 he graduated from UCI and that summer he took the MCAT and applied to medical school.
